Enrollment Consultant

A veteran leader in admissions, financial aid, enrollment management, marketing, and communications at both the college and independent school level, Kent Jones brings a wealth of experience to the Baker Group team. After working in financial aid and admissions at St. Lawrence and Colgate Universities, he served for 17 years as dean of enrollment and college relations at Skidmore College. He joined Emma Willard School in Troy, NY in 2000 as director of admissions and in 2006 was appointed director of college counseling.  

His professional activities have included chairing the Middle States Regional Council of the College Board, service on the National Association of College Admissions Counseling’s professional development committee, service as a mentor and founding faculty member of the New York State Association of College Counseling’s Summer Institute on College Admission, participation in the development of the College Board’s “Toward a Taxonomy of the Admissions Decision-Making Process," and presenting at various conferences. He is the recipient of the NYSACAC Distinguished Service Award and the Middle States Regional Assembly of the College Board’s Bernard P. Ireland Recognition Award for Outstanding Service to Young People.

 A Connecticut native and independent school graduate, Kent earned his BA in English and M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from St. Lawrence University. He was a member of Emma Willard’s Head’s Council, a varsity softball coach, a regional chairperson for the English Speaking Union’s Secondary School Exchange Program, and a dormitory affiliate.
